The Birth Toolkit – A brand new antenatal course in Littleborough, Rochdale

The Birth Toolkit will help you to labour quicker, reduce labour pain, and dial down the drama of childbirth. It will help you navigate twists and turns in your birth journey, make informed decisions, and come out feeling positive and empowered.

The most flexible face-to-face antenatal course out there!

If you understand the enormous value of birth prep, but have found it difficult to find a course that fits onto your life, this course is the answer! It’s the most flexible face-to-face antenatal course out there – designed with busy people like you in mind. Because everyone needs good birth prep, not just those with simple schedules and babysitters at the ready!

No birth partner, no problem.

Does your birth partner work away a lot? Or have a busy schedule? Maybe you have older kids at home and you can’t both get out at the same time. Maybe they’re hesitant about this hypno-malarky. Maybe you don’t know who you want as a birth partner yet. There are countless reasons why you may not have someone to attend antenatal classes with you. The Birth Toolkit is designed for people like you. Five of the six sessions are for pregnant people only. The Birth Partner Master Class is the only session you need your birth partner to attend. (If you’re looking for the same effective and evidence based prep but would like your birth partner to attend all sessions, check out my hypnobirthing courses).

How it works:

  • Six essential tools for a positive birth, taught over 6 distinct, evidence-based sessions.

  • Topics are on a six week loop, giving you plenty of opportunities to catch each session during your pregnancy.
  • PAYG – spread the cost over a few paydays if you like.

More about the sessions in The Birth Toolkit:

Birth is hard. The maternity system is both amazing and flawed. You know some prep would be a good idea, but trying to figure out what you do need to know is daunting! You don’t have time to research, and when you do, you find something you wish you hadn’t read.

These six sessions have been carefully crafted to guide you through everything you need to know for a great birth (and nothing you don’t need!). From learning what the fetal ejection reflex is to looking at how your birth position impacts the space in your pelvis, and everything in between, you’ll get the info you need, in manageable sessions that don’t feel overwhelming. The vibe is honest, realistic and positive. I’m not here to tell you birth is easy – it’s not. But you’ll complete this course knowing that you have everything you need in your Birth Toolkit to boss your birth. You might even be looking forward to it!

Six Sessions. Six essential tools for birth:

Learn how to use mental prep to help your hormones and nervous system work better during labour. Set yourself up for a great birth by working on your mindset now!

Gaining knowledge about birth means you can lean into the process, rather than resisting it out of fear. From first twinge to first cry – find out what happens and what to do, when.

Gain practical pain relief tools that will help you to reduce and manage pain effectively in labour. Plus understand what drugs are available and how they all work differently.

Gain the knowledge and tools you need to make informed decisions that are right for you and your baby.

In this midwife-led session, you’ll gain insider knowledge and tips, and learn how to cope with the unexpected. So you can have a positive birth, even if it’s not Plan A.

Make sure you have a confident and knowledgeable birth partner in your birth toolkit! They need to be your brain, your voice, your source of comfort, your protector… let’s show them how! Practical tips and tools so they can actively help and positively influence your birth!

FAQs about The Birth Toolkit

Is this for couples?

Most sessions are for the pregnant women or birthing person to come alone and meet other pregnant people. The ‘Birth Partner Master Class’ is the only session aimed at couples. If you’d like to find a course where your birth partner is involved every step of the way, my hypnobirthing courses might be a better option for you.

Do I need to buy one or two tickets for the Birth Partner Master Class?

Just one – I will assume you are bringing your birth partner with you.

Can I bring more than one birth partner?

If you plan on having more than one birth partner with you on the day, it’s a great idea for them to join this class, too, however it will depend on how much space I have available as to whether I can accommodate them. Please contact me about this and we can make arrangements.

Does it matter which order I take these sessions in?

No. You can start whenever you’re ready and the session you attend will make complete sense on its own. You can also spread the sessions out over your pregnancy if you like, rather than attending all six in a row.

When is the best time to come to these sessions?

Most people like to wait until after 12 weeks to start anything like this, and the most popular time to start is at around week 20. But it really is your call. It’s worth mentioning that The Birth Mindset Method is better to do earlier on in pregnancy, anytime from 12 weeks, because mental prep takes time, and the session provides you with the tools to work on this at home.

What should I wear?

Comfy clothing and sensible shoes that you can remove easily. The sessions take place in a beautiful yurt, amongst nature. There’s a short walk down a path that can get muddy. Once inside, you’ll be sitting on yoga mats, with bolsters and cushions available for your comfort. You’ll also need to remove your shoes when you enter the yurt.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to bring anything at all, but of you have a birth ball, you might like to bring it to sit on. Herbal tea will be available during the session.

What’s the address of The Wellness Wood?

Because the Wellness Wood is in the grounds of someone’s private home, they prefer to give the exact address out to people who have booked a session, 24 hours before the date of the session. It is about a 3 minute walk from Hollingworth Lake, in Littleborough. Limited parking is available at the property, and some people will need to park at the Hollingworth Lake car park. Don’t worry – you’ll get more detailed instructions about finding the place in your email!
